Fran & Lynne’s marathon fund-raiser for charity

9th March 2020 by Credo Asset Finance

Staring from the left – Lynne Hall, Simon Lappin, Fran Brown

Fran Brown, our Marketing Manager, and Lynne Hall our Management Accountant wete stepping up for a charity challenge by running the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 26. However the postponement of the event to Sunday 4th October hasn’t deterred them!

They are running for the Community Sports Foundation, Norwich City FC’s official charity partner, and our chosen charity.

Also running for CSF’s #BuildTheNest campaign is former Canaries favourite Simon Lappin who is football development officer on the foundation’s football and education programme.

Fran was set a target of raising £1,850 – that’s just over £70 for every mile of the famous 26.2-mile route round the capital. She will be running with colleague Lynne Hall, who ran the London Marathon last year. Despite receiving a ballot place again this year, Lynne will also be running for the Community Sports Foundation.

Already Fran has had sizeable pledges from the MINI Challenge and UNI-Virtuosi Racing, both of which Credo partners through its passion and support for motorsport, which are buying space on her running vest.

Lynne started running 10 years ago with a couch to 5k programme as a way to keep fit in her 40’s, and Fran took up running just before her 40th birthday 6 years ago.

“I started off just doing a mile or two, running in the forest, with some other mums from school. It was an opportunity to get together and get some exercise.” Fran said.

She did a couple of 5k Park Runs and then entered her first 10k, the Wymondham New Year’s Day race, three years ago. She did the Norwich 10k the following year and again 12 months later.

Last year she ran her first half-marathon at Cambridge in one hour, 59 minutes and 53 seconds. She also did runDisney around the theme parks near Paris, complete with Minnie Mouse ears, but that was more about having fun than PBs!

“I have always been in awe of people who have done the London Marathon. I think it is an amazing thing.”

“I want to do it in under five hours but I don’t want to put myself under pressure,” said Fran. “I want to finish and enjoy it.

“The training is going okay. I have managed to complete 15 miles so far and am now upping my runs to 18 miles.”

Lynne commented..”The experience of the marathon last year was simply one of the best things I had ever done, whilst the training was the probably one of the worst”

On a bit of a high I decided to try again for the ballot, not really expecting that I would be lucky enough to get in……….and what do you know – I did!!!

The Community Sports Foundation is a cause close to our heart with Credo helping to raise money for its Build the Nest project, a new multi-purpose community hub in Holt Road, Horsford.

When the foundation was allocated two charity places in the London Marathon it offered one to Fran.

Our big Build the Nest fund-raiser which raised over £70,000 was the Canaryball Rally in October 2019 with 18 teams enjoying a 2,900-mile, five-day charity challenge across Europe. Setting off from Norwich, they travelled through eight countries and the Alps to Milan and back. And, being the 25th anniversary of the Canaries’ 1993-94 UEFA Cup run, they visited the three European football grounds Norwich City played at – Vitesse Arnhem’s Gelre Dome, FC Bayern Munich’s former Olympiastadion and Inter Milan’s Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Fran’s foundation fund-raising focus has also included a quiz night at the Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich, a bake sale and in April she was to hold a party night in her home village which was a sellout, but this has been postponed until further notice.

The #BuildTheNest campaign is currently aiming to raise £1m to complete a second phase of construction at the foundation’s Horsford community hub. Norwich City FC has pledged to match-fund up to £500,000 of the funds raised and the campaign total now stands at £400,000, including match-funding.

The second phase will cost £4.6m altogether and will add multi-use indoor spaces, an IT suite, 3G artificial football match, a café and changing areas to the existing facilities. It will allow the foundation to reach an estimated 12,000 more people a year as it works to tackle a number of issues in Norfolk.

The initial £3.6m raised includes funding from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund, Norfolk County Council, Greater Norwich Growth Board, New Anglia LEP and previous fund-raising from local businesses, trusts, donations and events.

If you would like to support Fran’s marathon effort for this worthwhile community charity cause visit her fund-raising page at www.virginmoneygiving.com/franbrown6

Wishing UNI-Virtuosi a succesful 2020 season – from all of us at Credo

5th March 2020 by Credo Asset Finance

UNI-Virtuosi are based locally in Attleborough and have achieved a number of successes over the years since starting in Auto GP nearly 8 years ago.

Credo Motorsport Finance are delighted to be associated with UNI-Virtuosi Racing for the 2020 F2 season.

British-born driver Callum Ilott has joined the team for the 2020 season and is showing tremendous promise with previously earned strong results in the GP3 series and European Formula 3 and is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

Callum Ilott:
“I’m really excited to be joining UNI-Virtuosi for 2020! I believe this is the best place for me to fight for the championship title as winning is in the team’s DNA and I share the same hunger for success. The professionalism within the team, from the management to the mechanics, is second to none and it’s easy to see why they’re always mentioned in the fight for the championship. The three-day test is the perfect opportunity for me to get to know the team and get up to speed, so when we arrive in Bahrain for the first race we can hit the ground running.”

Andy Roche – UNI-Virtuosi
“We’re very happy to welcome Callum to our team and we are looking forward to working with him. He is a very talented driver and showed the paddock this year just how naturally gifted he is.  Callum’s progress through his maiden season showcased his skill and dedication, and we think that he has the maturity and speed in order to fight for the title in 2020.”

Guan Yu Zhou:

“To be signing again with UNI-Virtuosi Racing, it’s always been my first priority because last year in 2019 was the first year of working with the team, driving the F2 car for the first time, the Pirelli tyres. To be crowned the rookie champion was something really special for me. It shows a lot of potential in the team, and that we have been working really well together. First season as a rookie wasn’t easy, but the team helped me a lot on and off the track and back in the factory. We’ve been working hard and putting a lot of effort in. I can’t thank them enough for last season and for this season I’m just super excited to be getting started and to get back on the podium.

“I’m really happy to be continuing with the Renault F1 team and the Renault Sport Academy. I think the first year of us working together has been super positive, and from the Formula 2 side they helped me to give me more information about each track and the conditions. The RS 17 test and the F1 simulator development has all been really good so that’s why we have been putting a lot of trust in each other and I’m super happy with the partnership with them.”

Andy Roche – UNI-Virtuosi

“Guan Yu Zhou settled into the UNI-Virtuosi Racing instantly last year, right from pre-season testing we were delighted with his attitude and approach. The performance in the car spoke for itself, and of course we wanted to re-sign the strongest rookie on the grid in 2019. We’ve already seen a strong start to next season with the new combination of Guan Yu Zhou and our new signing Callum Ilott, and their brilliant work done in testing in Abu Dhabi last year. What we learned there will be crucial with the switch to 18-inch wheels this year. With our strong driver line-up, we’re expecting to fight right at the front once again in the 2020 season.”

A spokesperson for UNI-Virtuosi stated

“We are delighted to have Credo on board and are looking forward to a successful season together!”

This is going to be another exciting year ahead for Credo Motorsport Finance, and we wish the team at UNI-Virtuosi every success this season.

Credo congratulates Competition winners Therapy Aid

13th February 2020 by Credo Asset Finance

Credo were delighted to award a £100 cheque to the winners of our competition this week.

As a company we are passionate about supporting local causes, so we asked people to post the name of their local charity/good cause and then we randomly picked a winner! And the winner was Therapy Aid!

Calling unpaid carers in Norfolk

Therapy Aid offer a course of free relaxing and beneficial therapies (such as massage, reflexology) via a network of professional therapists throughout the County.

They raise money through events and donations to pay participating therapists for their time ensuring that TherapyAid continues as a high quality sustainable service.

Why Unpaid Carers?

Their experience as professional therapists has given them an insight into the tremendous job that unpaid and informal carers do.

Carers save the UK approximately £130 billion a year and Norfolk services £1.6 billion a year, and they do so without thought to their own well-being and mental and emotional health. Often their only complaints are a few aches and pains, but we know from experience that it goes much deeper than that.

Giving unpaid carers some dedicated time to de-stress and rebalance means that they will be in a better position to care for their loved ones, and are more likely to stay in better health themselves.

Who are Therapy Aid?

The Jackie Hamilton School of Therapies is an accredited school that has been successfully training adults in massage, reflexology, sports massage therapy, aromatherapy and anatomy and physiology since 2005. Jackie won Federation of Holistic Therapies, Therapist of the Year 2019.

The Therapy Aid Committee was formalised in April 2019 by Jackie and a number of her tutors and graduates are now seeking charitable status.

They received vital funding from Norwich Charitable Trusts, and Change Grow Live.

The service from TherapyAid will eventually be available to any unpaid carer supporting a Norfolk resident who is affected by a disability or long term health condition. Carers will be entitled to receive up to five treatments free of charge from participating therapists.

They may be referred to TherapyAid by the care groups they are in contact with such as Carers Matter  as well as care agencies and GPs.

Having a network of participating therapists through the county will give the carer the option of being treated at home or in a nearby clinic, therefore making the most of any respite they have.

Credo are thrilled to be giving this amazing charity this prize, and know that this money will give carers 5 free treatments from their therapists.

For more information on the charity please click www.therapyaid.co.uk or contact Jackie on 01603 441160
